The New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians were forced to make a change of plans. The two teams were set to face off in a do-or-die Game 5 of the ALDS on Monday night, but inclement weather forced officials to switch gears and postpone the game.
Now, the Yankees and Guardians will take the field on Tuesday, October 18.
The game was initially scheduled to be played under the lights with the first pitch scheduled for 7:07 p.m. ET, but it will now take place in the late afternoon with a scheduled start time of 4:07 p.m. ET. That raises the question: what happens to the fans who had tickets for Mondy night’s game?
Well, there is some good news and some bad news.
The good news is that any ticket for last night’s game will be valid for Tuesday afternoon. The bad news, however, is that the tickets are not eligible for refunds. That means anyone who planned on going to a night game could run into issues since the game is now starting during work and school hours.

The postponement also leads to some logistical issues for the Yankees and Guardians. Instead of having a brief break after the win-or-go home game, the winning team will immediately have to jump on a jet to Houston for Wednesday’s ALCS Game 1 against the Astros.
