Like much of the viewing audience at home, Mike Francesa has had enough of Bob Costas during the Yankees-Guardians ALDS telecasts.
During a podcast released on the BetRivers network after Games 3 and 4 over the weekend, Francesa sounded off Costas and echoed what many fans have been saying: the man talks way too much.
Francesa ripped Costas for not knowing when to shut up and repeating talking points that have already been driven into the ground.
“Costas, who will not be quiet no matter what,” Francesa said, as transcribed by the New York Post. “He thinks I guess that every word is golden because he just will not shut up. Everything’s a history lesson. We don’t need a history lesson every two seconds! Everybody’s a Yankees fan. They understand Yankees history. They know it backwards and forwards! This is not a history class! It’s a baseball game! Be quiet! Do the game!

“He’s driving everybody crazy. He must’ve said a thousand times, ‘The Yankee home runs…’ We know the Yankees have doubled their home runs this year! We know the [Guardians] hit 127 homers and Yankees 254. We know that! Everybody knows it! Make the point once, not 4,000 times!”
Costas is a legend, but his tangents and long-windedness do get tiring at times — especially during an intense series.
Let’s see if Costas takes notes from the criticism he’s been receiving over the past few games or whether he decides to keep talking about home run totals when the two teams face off on Monday night in a do-or-die Game 5.
The first pitch at Yankees Stadium in the Bronx is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. ET on TBS.
