The 2022 San Diego Open continues on Saturday with the final four women set to face off in the semifinals as they look to secure a spot in Sunday’s championship match at Barnes Tennis Center in California. Both semifinal matches will be held on the Stadium court.
First up on Saturday is World No. 1 Iga Swiatek, who looks to punch her ticket to yet another final and continue her record-breaking 2022 campaign when she faces off against Jessica Pegula, who entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed.
In the other semifinal, it is a meeting of two unseeded players who have made surprising runs when Donna Vekic of Croatia takes on American Danielle Collins. Vekic upset No. 3 seed Aryna Sabalenka in the quarter-final and began her run in the main draw with an upset win over No. 5 Maria Sakkari. Collins, meanwhile, upset No. 2 seed Paula Badosa in the quarter-final and earned a win over No. 7 seed Caroline Garcia in her first match of the tournament.
The championship match will be held on Sunday, October 16, at 7:00 p.m. ET.
