The 2022 NHL Draft kicked off on Thursday, July 7 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It marks the first time since 1965 that the team holding the No. 1 overall pick hosted the NHL Entry Draft.
For the Montreal Canadiens, the first pick was left winger Juraj Slafkovsky, who was part of the Slovakian national team that won the bronze medal in the 2022 Beijing Olympics. The New Jersey Devils selected Slovakian defenseman Simon Nemec with the No. 2 overall pick, while the Arizona Coyotes rounded out the top three with University of Minnesota commit Logan Cooley.
The draft will continue on Friday morning with Rounds 2 through 7 kicking off at 11:00 a.m. ET on the NHL Network, ESPN+, Sportsnet, and TVAS.
