Daniel Oss has been forced out of the 2022 Tour de France after the 35-year-old Italian cyclist was involved in a brutal crash with bystanders who were standing close to the race path earlier this week.
During Stage 5 of the race on Wednesday, Oss crashed into a spectator in a yellow shirt and then went head first into another fan.
The crash resulted in a fractured neck that forced Oss out of the race. The craziest part of the entire incident is that Oss was able to get back on his bike and finish the stage of the race before further examinations.

“Additional examinations revealed a fracture of a cervical vertebra requiring immobilization for a few weeks,” a tweet from Team TotalEnergies read. “Daniel Oss is therefore forced to leave the Tour de France.”
Australian cyclist Michael Gogl was also involved in the crash and suffered a broken collarbone and pelvis/iliac bone, along with artery damage.
