Hockey legend Jaromir Jagr says he is lucky to be alive after being involved in a high-speed accident with a tram in his home country of the Czech Republic.

The 50-year-old Jagr said he “thought it was my end” but managed to climb out of the badly damaged car with minor injuries to one hand and a slight limp, according to reports.

While saying he took responsibility for the accident, Jagr also thanked God and those who were at the scene of the accident and helped out.

“It was my fault,” he wrote on Instagram. “On Plzeňská, I tried to cross from one direction to another. I checked the other side and drove into it at the right time. But there was a lot of traffic and I didn’t have time to react to the tram, which was going at high speed in the same direction as me.”

The New York Post noted there were no reported injuries to passengers on the tram, and Jagr reportedly did not have alcohol in his system.

During his 24-year NHL career, Jagr recorded 1,921 points including 766 goals.
