A longtime college basketball tradition is coming to an end.
According to a report from the Associated Press, the NIT is set to leave Madison Square Garden for the next two seasons. The semifinal and championship games have been held at Madison Square Garden dating back to 1938.
The tournament games will be up for bid with potential landing spots being resort locations in Las Vegas and the historic Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
This year’s NIT semifinals take place on Tuesday, March 29.
In the first semifinal game, St. Bonaventure takes on Xavier, while Washington State takes on Texas A&M in the second semifinal. The championship game will take place on Thursday, March 31.
