Vanessa Demopoulos Quit Stripping To Focus On UFC 270; Credits Pole Dancing For Jiu-Jitsu Skills

Vanessa Demopoulos had an incredible performance at UFC 270 over the weekend, scoring an impressive comeback win against Silvana Gomez Juarez. “Lil Monster” was knocked down early, but rallied to submit Juarez in the first round.

After the fight, Demopoulos discussed her occupation prior to joining the UFC and said she gave up stripping just eight weeks ago to train mixed martial arts full-time.

It obviously paid off.

As an added bonus, the former LFA women’s champion credited pole dancing for her jiu-jitsu skills.

“That’s my stripper guard right there,” Demopoulos said, via MMA Mania. ” don’t think it’s a secret I was an exotic dancer for 13 years and I didn’t actually say this on the mic, but I’d like to say it right now: I walked away from being a stripper to continue this camp. I quit dancing about six to eight weeks ago just so I could focus on MMA, take this extremely seriously in the gym every single day.

“But yeah, that’s where that background comes from and that’s where the splits come from. And a lot of my jiu-jitsu, actually, comes from my expertise as a pole dancer!”

The more you know.

So the next time you want to kick it at a strip club with the boys, just tell people you are going to study jiu-jitsu.

As for Demopoulos, if she keeps on winning her personality could definitely help her blossom into a mixed martial arts star.
