Anthony Echemendia-Orduna, a sophomore wrestler at Ohio State, has been arrested for felonious assault and is accused of choking a woman unconscious during an argument earlier this month.
According to local news affiliate ABC 6-WSYX, the 22-year-old was arrested on Tuesday, November 9 for the incident that occurred a day earlier. The Columbus Police responded to a well-being check on Monday afternoon.
Echemendia-Orduna, who is in custody in the Franklin County Correction Center at Jackson Pike, is accused of abusing the woman after an argument. Per court documents filed with the Franklin County Municipal Court, he struck the woman in the head before choking her.
Eleven Warriors obtained the arrest warrant which states Echemendia “knowingly caused serious physical harm to another … by means of grabbing her by the neck w/ both hands, depleting her of air, rendering her unconscious.”
Bond has not been set.

The Ohio State wrestling program said they are aware of the incident but have no further comment at this time.
