Dana White’s Contender Series returned for another event this week as the UFC continued its attempt to find some of the top up-and-coming prospects in mixed martial arts.
Season 5 came to an end on Tuesday night with Dana White’s Contender Series 46.
In the main event, undefeated Canadian prospect Achilles Estremadura took on 21-year-old Chinese prospect Maheshate in an action-packed lightweight bout. After a thrilling three-round war, Maheshate capped off the 5th season of the series with a unanimous decision win to become the first Chinese fighter to win on the Contender Series.
The event also featured a spectacular finish from Jonas Bilharinho, who scored the first spinning wheel kick knockout in Dana White Contender Series history in a bout that also included the rare double nut shot.
When it was all said and done, the contracts were handed out to Yohan Lainesse who scored a 97 second knockout, and Maheshate.
