The NHL season began Tuesday night with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Tampa Bay Lightning starting things off. The new kids on the block, the Seattle Kraken, started their season in the second game Tuesday night, with many gushing over their new sweaters on social media.
In honor of the start of the season, here are the top 5 current jerseys in the NHL.

First off, I’m a sucker for teal. This is why the Charlotte Hornets have the greatest color combo in all of professional sports, but that conversation is for another day. The San Jose Sharks teal sweaters look awesome on the ice. Second, a freaking shark is chowing down on a hockey stick on the jersey. Does a logo get any cooler than that? If I keep looking at this jersey, it will end up moving to first on the list. Somebody find me the Street Sharks cartoon now. I’m all in on these sweaters.

One of the oldest franchises in the NHL, the Toronto Maple Leafs have one of the most iconic jerseys. The blue tops are simple and clean. Even if the team’s name weren’t on the front of the sweater, the iconic white maple leaf on the front of the sweater will immediately make you think of this original six franchise. Auston Matthews will continue to help Toronto win its first Stanley Cup since 1967.
3. L.A. Kings – Black

Black, white, and silver is a clean look for any team that wears it. The combo first makes me think of the Las Vegas Raiders, but the Los Angeles Kings gives them a run for their money with this look. The Kings’ mascot Bailey gives the black top a tough look when cheering on his kings.

The Blackhawks started their season with a tough loss to the Colorado Avalanche. Even in defeat, the Blackhawks were repping one of the best NHL jerseys in the game. A jersey that even Clark Griswald had to have, the Blackhawks white sweaters are an iconic look for an iconic franchise.

If you thought another jersey would top this list besides the Detroit Red Wings red tops, then I only have one thing to say to you, “Cut it out.” Uncle Joey’s boys in red have fallen on hard times, but at least they’ve looked good during this dreadful rebuild. The Red Wings will start their season Thursday night against the Lightning.

This list will be unanimously accepted, and nobody will have a bad thing to say about it. However, if you are one of the rare folks that will disagree with this list, one thing we all can agree on is that we are all grateful that the NHL is back.
