Things got heated between Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant at their press conference in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
When the two men came face-to-face for their staredown, Canelo shoved Plant square in the chest. Plant walked back towards Canelo and decided to throw a left hook, which led to Canelo sliding out of the way and feeding Plant a two-piece that left the challenger with a cut under his right eye.
After the scuffle, Canelo spoke to reporters and explained why the incident went down.
According to Canelo, Plant crossed the line when he made a comment about Canelo’s mom. Canelo would later say that Plant referred to him as a “motherf*cker.”
“You can say whatever to me, but not to my mom,” Canelo told reporters after the on-stage scuffle. “I’m going to fight anyone who says something about my mom. And he swung first. I just pushed him. He swung first, and I do what I do. He crossed the line.
“It will be over in eight rounds or less. I’m going to knock out this guy. Easy.”

Welp. That’ll do it.
Canelo and Plant are set to square off at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 6. Canelo will be putting his WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight titles, while Plant’s IBF belt is also on the line. The winner will be the undisputed champion.
