Bryson DeChambeau let his frustration boiled over after losing to Patrick Cantlay in a sudden-death playoff hole at the BMW Championship, according to reports.

According to ESPN’s Kevin Van Valkenburg, DeChambeau was walking off of the course at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owing Mills, Maryland after missing a putt on the sixth playoff hole which cost him the win when he had a heated verbal confrontation with a fan.

Van Valkenburg says the fan yelled out “Brooksie” — which stems from DeChambeau’s rivalry with Brooks Koepka and gets yelled at DeChambeau at every tournament — when DeChambeau decided he had enough.

From the report:

Halfway up the hill, something happened that made me feel like we’ve arrived at a miserable place in the never-ending circus that is DeChambeau. A patron waited until DeChambeau had walked by, but was not out of earshot, then sneered from over the rope line “Great job Brooksie!” DeChambeau spun around in a rage and began briefly walking in his direction.

“You know what? Get the f— out!” DeChambeau yelled. He had rage in his eyes.

I’m being dead serious when I say it could have gotten ugly really fast. Maybe not “Malice At The Palace” bad, but in that moment, nothing would’ve surprised me.

Van Valkenburg notes that DeChambeau had been dealing with heckling from the crowd all week before he finally broke.

Eventually, cops dealt with the fan and DeChambeau made his way off of the course.

All I want to know is: how has there not been video of the incident yet? And maybe, just maybe, fans should know better than to heckle the game’s most powerful driver while he has a club in his hand.
