Long gone are the days of crotch chops that got you in trouble at school or throwing your middle finger up as you ran through church pews because Stone Cold said so. Professional wrestling and its fans have been starving for another resurgence like the Attitude Era of the late 1990s.
With 2020 being an absolute disaster for the product due to the pandemic, wrestling companies have busted the door down in 2021, leaving the fans wanting more after each event.

— SportsCenter (@SportsCenter) August 21, 2021
In one of the biggest returns in professional wrestling history, CM Punk lit the world on fire with his debut last Friday night on AEW Rampage. The crowd reaction will forever go down in wrestling fan lore as one of the greatest nights to be a fan. Punk had been absent from professional wrestling for seven years, and the last time he was seen in a ring was with the WWE. The return of Punk had social media talking and had many non-fans seeking to find the video of this historic moment.

AEW isn’t the only company seeing success this year, as WWE broke their own attendance record for one of their major shows, SummerSlam. Over 51,000 people crammed into the new Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, to watch their favorite WWE Superstars put on a great show. The WWE also had some tricks up their sleeves this past weekend with the returns of fan favorites Becky Lynch and Brock Lesnar, ending the show with a huge exclamation point.

It is an exciting time to be a professional wrestling fan. Not only are the WWE and AEW thriving in the post-pandemic era, but many other wrestlers and companies have seen a surge in interest this year. Matt Cardona, formerly Zack Ryder of the WWE, has been the talk of the internet wrestling community as he is branching out and keeping the internet buzzing with his current run in GCW and IMPACT Wrestling.
Supporting Local Shows
— OVW Wrestling (@ovwrestling) August 26, 2021
Support your local companies as well. Kentucky Sports Radio founder Matt Jones has recently purchased a portion of Ohio Valley Wrestling that has seen a boom in attendance since the company has been able to travel around the state of Kentucky once again. Supporting local wrestling companies like OVW keeps the dreams alive for those trying to learn the art of wrestling and seek dreams of being on a grand stage.
Professional wrestling fans should soak all of this in. No more bickering about which product you enjoy over the other. This can be said for more than just wrestling, but let people have fun with what they like and be happy with the product’s recent resurgence to the masses. Wrestling fans are finally back in the arenas, and the companies they support are showing them thank you by giving the fans the entertainment they’ve desperately needed.
