TikTok is apparently taking a stand against the viral #MilkCrateChallenge.
In recent days, people have been having some fun by filming themselves going up and down makeshift staircases constructed out of milk crates. Usually, the stunt ends with an epic fall.
Multiple videos have gone viral, but now TikTok has reportedly removed the #MilkCrateChallenge hashtag from its platform before issuing a statement saying the app prohibits content that promotes dangerous acts. Seriously.
“TikTok prohibits content that promotes or glorifies dangerous acts, and we remove videos and redirect searches to our Community Guidelines to discourage such content,”TikTok said in a statement. “We encourage everyone to exercise caution in their behavior whether online or off.”
Previously, doctors issued a warning about the challenge due to the danger of the falls we have seen in countless videos.
Before the hashtag was removed from TikTok, it had racked up more than 9 million views with millions more on Twitter, YouTube, and other platforms. While TikTok is apparently taking a stand against the challenge, don’t expect to see the falls stop coming anytime soon.
