Emoni Bates. a five-star recruit in the Class of 2021, has officially made his college decision.
On Wednesday, the 6-foot-9 guard officially announced his commitment to Penny Hardaway’s Memphis basketball program. With the addition of Bates, Memphis now has the No. 1 recruiting class in 2021.
Bates reclassified into the 2021 class and joins former AAU teammate Jalen Duren with the Tigers.
The megaprospect initially committed to Tom Izzo’s Michigan State Spartans, but reopened his commitment in June 2020.
Drawing comparisons to Kevin Durant, Bates is the second-highest recruit to ever commit to Memphis, falling just behind big man James Wiseman and ahead of Derrick Rose.
