6 Awesome Sports to Enjoy with Kids

It can be difficult to find the space in our busy lives to spend quality time with the kids.  Between driving them to school, extra-curricular activities, and their friends’ houses it can seem as if you never have enough time to sit and chat or do things together.  However, getting involved in sports together could be a good way of getting that quality time back.  Here are six awesome sports to enjoy with the kids. 

Hiking

Hiking side by side is a great bonding exercise.  It will give you time to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, get back to nature, and it helps to alleviate mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.  It also gives you quality time to talk to your kids and find out what is going on with them. This can give your kids a great chance to open up to you and enjoying the experience of hiking gives you something to talk about and share. 

Swimming

Whether your kids are splashing about in their water wings, or they are a serious contender for the next Olympics, you are going to have a lot of fun going swimming together.  This is a fantastic workout for the whole body as you will use all your muscles, and it is also an important life skill.  Put on swimsuits and head for your local pool to enjoy swimming time with the kids.

Baseball

There is nothing quite like the all-American sport of baseball and it is a great way for your kids to learn life skills such as hand-eye coordination and help them improve their technique.  You may want to get some of the equipment you need such as a bat, ball, and shoes that were made for the turf. Once you have these, head down to the local park and start playing.  The great thing with baseball is that if there are at least two of you, it is easy to add to this number, so you can get the whole family together for a game and a picnic and it will offer a great bonding experience for young and old alike.

Cycling

Cycling is a fun and adventurous way to enjoy sports with your kids.  Get on your bikes and set off to explore new destinations.  Take enough water and food with you and you can spend the whole day enjoying the experience.  Once you have made the initial outlay for the bikes, this is a free day out that all the family can enjoy.  This is a life skill your kids can do by themselves, and they could end up cycling to school or their friends’ houses on their own, meaning that they no longer need you to drive them.

Inline Skating

This is a fun sport to try but make sure you have enough padding before you get started.  This will help your kids learn to balance and you will probably pick up some new skills too.  It is a great bonding exercise as you learn and improve together, and eventually you will be able to enjoy the exhilaration of speed too. 

Martial Arts

Martial arts offer a lot of advantages; not only does it keep you fit and allow you to spend time having fun with your kids and learning new skills together, but it will also give them confidence and self-discipline.  It will also give you the peace of mind to know that they can handle the school bullies too. 

There are so many awesome sports to enjoy with the kids and they will benefit the whole family.  Here is just a small selection of the activities you can enjoy together that will enhance your relationship and give you a chance to bond.
