The final round of the 2021 Northern Trust has been postponed.

Due to the projected path of Tropical Storm Henri, the PGA has made the decision to avoid the course at Liberty National Golf Course in Jersey City, New Jersey on Sunday and push Round 4 to Monday. August 23.

The storm has led to more than 50 million people across the northeast being put under an extreme weather warning

“Based on the projected path of Tropical Storm Henri and the Tropical Storm Warning that has been issued by the National Hurricane Center for the area where THE NORTHERN TRUST is located, there will be no play on Sunday, August 22nd,” a statement from the PGA Tour read. “Round 4 will be played on Monday, August 23rd. Tee times and groupings for Round 4 will be published on Sunday afternoon, with play on Monday slated to begin no earlier than 7:30 a.m.”

The storm is expected to make landfall on Long Island or southern New England late Sunday morning, with flooding risks and other dangerous weather to those in surrounding areas.

When play resumes on Monday, world No. 1 Jon Rahm and Australia’s Cameron Smith will take the course with a share of the lead at 16-under. Smith was on fire during Saturday’s third round and shot up the leaderboard after a course-record 60.

We are set up for a thrilling finish when play is able to resume.
