Happy Wednesday, ladies and gentlemen. We’ve reached the middle of the week and there’s about to be some excitement later tonight when the United States men’s basketball team takes on Australia in the Olympic semifinal with an opportunity to punch their ticket to the gold medal game. Earlier today, the USA women’s team knocked off Australia to earn their semifinal bid, so let’s hope the men’s team can follow suit. Speaking of the Olympics, the USA track and field team has been crushing Olympic and World Records throughout the Tokyo Games, so let’s hope that continues. The USA men’s baseball team also scored a big win over the Dominican Republic, while the women’s volleyball team also beat the DR for a ticket to the semifinals. USA! USA! USA! Sydney McLaughlin took home the women’s 400m hurdles gold medal with a world-record-setting performance, while teammate Dalilah Muhammad won the silver. McLaughlin becomes the youngest woman to take home gold in the event at just 21 years old.
