WATCH: Olympic BMX Rider Niek Kimmann Crashes Into Race Official (VIDEO)

Olympic BMX rider Niek Kimmann had a scare during training after a hard crash involving a race official.

The 25-year-old Dutch rider was making his way down the second straight on the course at the Ariake Urban Sports Park when an Olympic official attempted to cross the track.

Bystanders attempted to warn Kimmann that the person was crossing the track, but it was too late and he crashed full speed into the official.

There is no word on the health of the official, but Kimmann said he is okay other than a bit of knee soreness.

“So this is what happened today. Hit an official that wanted to cross the 2nd straight,” Kimmann wrote on Twitter. “Hope the official is O.K. My knee is sore, but will do my best to be ready for Thursday! Thanks everyone for the messages, appreciate it!”

Kimman is considered to be a favorite along with Connor Fields of the United States.

The BMX quarterfinal runs will be held Thursday, July 29 with semifinals and medal rounds on Friday, July 30.
