TikTok star Addison Rae has the internet on fire.
The 20-year-old social media sensation apparently landed a reporting gig with the UFC and took to Twitter to share her excitement. Unfortunately for Rae, her message was not very well received.
“I studied broadcast journalism in college for 3 whole months to prepare for this moment,” Rae wrote.

Rae then began trending on social media — which is exactly what the UFC was looking for. So thanks to the engagement, they are getting their publicity, while people complain that the gig should have gone to someone more deserving.
Here is what the internet had to say:
“Imagine spending four years in college plus unpaid internships plus reporter/producer/editor/photog jobs that pay next to nothing to even have the SHOT at a better job,” one Twitter user wrote, “and all it takes for Addison Rae is TikTok and three months of college to be ahead of you.”
Should we hire someone who busted their butt through college, and genuinely loves UFC and is hungry for an opportunity in journalism?? Nah, let’s hire Addison Rae because she’s popular for “throwing it back” on tik tok. https://t.co/vZ62DUR3iX

“The AUDACITY.. do you know how many people who are more trained and qualified who have been studying this and putting their WHOLE life savings into college that you took this away from,” another wrote. “I have a friend who studied for SIX YEARS only to have thus shoved in her face. disgusting.”
There was a common theme among the critics: “How selfish can you be at this point? people work for these jobs. you make a 15 second video and you want everything given to you?”
While the exact details of her gig were not revealed, it is likely that Rae is serving as a social media correspondent for the event — which would actually make sense.
“Tone deaf to the worst degree. Put in context, she’s not suddenly a UFC reporter,” a user said. “She’s been hired for ONE event because she’s young and popular with a target demographic. She makes probably 10x more than any salary they’d offer her by dancing in short shorts on Tik Tok”
In the end, Rae and the UFC will be laughing all the way to the bank.
UFC takes place Saturday, July 10 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main card will begin at 10:00 p.m. ET live on pay-per-view.
