The oblivious woman who caused a major crash at the Tour de France by holding out a cardboard sign with a message to her grandparents is reportedly missing as a lawsuit looms.
According to reports, the woman is “nowhere to be found” after tour officials announced that they intended to sue her for causing the major pile-up — which forced Jasha Sütterlin, a German cyclist, to withdraw due to a wrist injury he suffered during the crash.
Officials believe the woman is German and may have fled France for her home country, according to Ouest-France.
“We are suing this woman who behaved so badly,” Tour deputy director Pierre-Yves Thouault said after the incident. “We are doing this so that the tiny minority of people who do this don’t spoil the show for everyone,”
Making a trip to the Tour de France and sparking an international manhunt is something you couldn’t even make up.
