Denmark’s Christian Eriksen Collapses On Field; Match Suspended Due To Medical Emergency

UPDATE: According to the UEFA Euro tournament, Denmark star Christian Eriksen has been stabilized after collapsing late in the first half of his country’s team against Finland and having CPR administered and a defibrillator used.

Denmark and Finland are meeting with match officials to determine what the next step will be.

“Following the medical emergency for Eriksen, a crisis meeting has taken place with both teams and match officials and further information will be communicated at 19:45 CET. The player has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilized,” UEFA said in a statement.


Denmark’s Christian Eriksen collapsed to the ground late in the first half of his country’s opening game of UEFA Euro 2020 match against Finland.

Immediately after the 29-year-old Eriksen collapsed to the ground, his teammates frantically waved to the sidelines for medical assistance.

Eriksen was unresponsive, and the medical staff administered chest compressions and used a defibrillator for approximately ten minutes.

Ultimately, a curtain was placed around Eriksen for his privacy as he was loaded onto a stretcher and taken off of the field for further medical attention at the hospital.

The match was suspended due to the medical emergency.
