A retired nun from California is facing the consequences for her shady activity to fund a life of fun.
Mary Margaret Kreuper, a 79-year-old retired nun who served as principal at St. James Catholic School in Torrance, admitted to stealing more than $800,000 from the catholic school.
The 79-year-old stole the money from the elementary school over the course of a decade from 2008 to 2018.
Kreuper used the money to pay for gambling in Las Vegas, according to the New York Daily News.
As a result of her activity, Kreuper is facing one count of wire fraud and one count of money laundering — which carries a maximum 40-year sentence in prison.
The school did not want to pursue charges, but the feds had a different idea of how to handle the situation.

While the Church decided not to press charges, the feds investigated anyway because theft is not only a crime against God, but a crime against man. Kreuper pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud and one count of money laundering, the Justice Department said.
