Phil Mickelson had a record-setting win at the PGA Championship on Sunday, becoming the oldest player to win the tournament.
Mickelson entered the final round of the tournament in the lead and had to fight off a field of hungry challengers including Brooks Koepka. One person who was watching closely was Mickelson’s mother, who had some advice for Lefty during the final round.
As Mickelson began to extend his lead over Koepka, Mickelson’s mother sent a hilarious text full of advice that she wanted to be relayed to Mickelson from his sister, Tina.
Tina took to social media to share the message she received from her mother.
“Tina, [text] Philip and tell him just to par in,” the message read. “Don’t hit bombs or activate calves. Just par. They will have to catch him. He won’t listen to his mother [so] you [text] him. Hurry.”
While you guys were busy on the golf course, I was busy fielding Mom’s “nervous texts”.😂 @PhilMickelson @goodwalkspoiled pic.twitter.com/ZyZZ5xvdRN

Mother knows best.
In the end, Mickelson was able to hold on to his lead and came away with the big win at Kiawah Island Resort’s Ocean Course in Charleston, South Carolina.
