DMX’s new song “X Moves” dropped on Friday, April 9. It happened to be the rapper’s swan song after news surfaced that he passed away earlier in the day after a week in the hospital following a severe drug overdose.

DMX, who was born Earl Simmons, was 50 years old.

“It’s irrelevant how many rhymes you got/You ain’t got what I got/X marks the spot,” DMX raps in his trademark growl and cadence.

DMX teamed up with Bootsy Collins, Asia guitarist Steve Howe, and Deep Purple drummer Ian Paice.

The new single was released by Cleopatra Records.
