People really will believe anything they see on the internet these days, won’t they? Well, in case you are easily fooled, NO, Nike is not selling or endorsing Lil Nas X and MSCHF “Satan Shoes,” a collaboration that began circulating on social media.
The shoes carry a $1,018 price tag and are custom Nike Air Max 97s said to contain one drop of human blood.
The “Satan Shoes” will have a limited drop of 666 individually numbered pairs.
Immediately, there was one faction of the internet that began showing “outrage” over the sneaker and comparing it to the time Nike pulled sneakers featuring the Betsy Ross flag. The faux outrage was calling out a “double-standard” from Nike.
There were people like this doing the most in an effort to get some extra likes and retweets.
For clarification, I’ve learned these shoes aren’t *from* Nike, but use and market Nike. The criticism remains the same- the co is not actively trying to distance themselves from the project that clearly shows the Nike branding w Satan, but distanced themselves from Betsy Ross.

But there’s one problem… Nike has nothing to do with these sneakers. And despite people saying Nike isn’t distancing themselves from the project, the sneaker company has literally released a statement saying they do not endorse them.
“We do not have a relationship with Lil Nas X or MSCHF,” a Nike spokesperson said in a statement sent to Input. “Nike did not design or release these shoes and we do not endorse them.”
Well, there goes that narrative.
Nike could also send a cease and desist in an effort to stop the shoes from ever seeing the market. As of now, they are scheduled to be released on Monday, March 29, but it seems increasingly unlikely that they will officially drop.
