Mike Bell, the bench coach for the Minnesota Twins, passed away at age 46 on Friday, March 26. The organization confirmed the news in a statement.
Bell passed away following a battle with kidney cancer.
Bell was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the first round of the 1993 amateur draft. He would play in the minor leagues for seven seasons before turning his attention to coaching.
Bell’s brother, David, played for 12 seasons in Major League Baseball and is currently the manager for the Cincinnati Reds. His grandfather, Gus Bell, is in the Reds Hall of Fame.
