Jim Nantz secured the bag.
Following the news that Nantz signed a lengthy contract extension with CBS, details have emerged about the announcer’s new megadeal.
Nantz was looking for a big payday and that’s exactly what he received with a raise as high as $10.5 million per year, according to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post.
An exact figure, however, is not known.
Nantz had originally asked for a deal in the range of Tony Romo’s 10-year, $180 million deal. While he didn’t receive that big of a pay raise, his new deal puts him on par with Fox’s Joe Buck and NBC’s Mike Tirico.
The 61-year-old Nantz has previously said he hopes to continue calling The Masters until he is 75.
Nantz will continue to call NFL action, the Big Ten Tournament, and the NCAA men’s basketball tournament along with his golf duties.
Congrats on the new deal, Jim.
After more than three decades at CBS, it was well-deserved.
