The Georgia Tech basketball program will be without star forward Moses Wright for the Yellow Jackets’ first-round matchup with Loyola Chicago in the 2021 NCAA Tournament. Wright is also likely to miss the second-round if Georgia Tech advances.

The 6-foot-9 forward was named the ACC Player of the Year.

Wright is averaging 17.4 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.6 blocks per game this season.

Jeff Goodman and Brett McMurphy of ESPN.com were first to report the news late Wednesday night.

“BREAKING: Georgia Tech will be without star big man Moses Wright for the Yellow Jackets first-round game against Loyola Chicago,” Goodman wrote on Twitter.

Georgia Tech enters the tournament on an eight-game winning streak and is the No. 9 seed in the Midwest Region. If they win over No. 8 Loyola Chicago, the Yellow Jackets would face the winner of No. 1 seed Illinois vs. No. 16 seed Drexel in the Round of 32.

Tip-off between Georgia Tech and Loyola Chicago at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis is set for 4:00 p.m. E.T. on Friday live on TBS.
