Silento, the Atlanta rapper best known for his hit song “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae),” was arrested Monday in DeKalb County and charged with murdering his cousin, according to the Associated Press.
The 23-year-old rapper, whose real name is Ricky Hawk, was arrested for the shooting death of his 34-year-old cousin, Frederick Rooks, who was killed on January 21.
Eight bullet casings were found at the scene.
From the Atlanta-Journal Constitution:
Police responded to a shots fired call Jan. 21 around 3:30 a.m. in the Panthersville area, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported. They found Rooks dead at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds, according to DeKalb police Lt. Rod Bryant.
Responding officers were able to gather video from multiple residents’ security cameras, according to the incident report. The video showed several cars fleeing the scene at high speeds, and the footage captured at least one gunshot. Eight bullet casings were collected at the scene, the report said.
This is just the latest dust-up with the law for Silento, who has arrested twice in one week in August on domestic violence and gun charges, while also being arrested in DeKalb for speeding 140 mph in October.
In the domestic violence incident, Silento had entered a random home looking for his girlfriend and was armed with a hatchet.
