The Pac-12 will reportedly be looking for a new commissioner.
On Wednesday night, reports began to surface that the Pac-12 conference and commissioner Larry Scott have agreed to part ways.
Scott’s contract was extended through 2022 back in 2022, but his time with the conference will be cut short.
“Pac-12 agrees to part ways with commissioner Larry Scott. Conference CEOs just finished meeting tonight. National search for new commissioner will begin immediately,” Michael Smith of the Sports Business Journal wrote on Twitter.
Following the report, there were immediately names that were floating around as potential replacements.
Among the replacements are Oliver Luck and Gene Smith.
“The early read on candidates to replace Larry Scott is that they need direct college experience, football savvy, media experience and a relationship builder. Early potential names include Oliver Luck, Bernard Muir, Gloria Nevarez, Burke Magnus, Dan Radakovich and Gene Smith,” Yahoo! Sports insider Pete Thamel reported.
