A wild, unprecedented scene emerged on Capitol Hill on Wednesday when a group of Donald Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol Building while members of the House of Representatives and Senate were working to certify electoral votes from the 2020 election.
As the proceedings were underway, supporters overwhelmed Capitol Hill police and breached a police barrier.
From there, it continued to get worse as the supporters made their way into the building and ultimately breached the House floor which led to an armed standoff. Protesters also breached the Senate floor.
The Washington, DC mayor issued a 6:00 p.m. ET curfew, while Vice President Mike Pence and members of the Senate were evacuated from the building. The U.S. Capitol is currently on a full lockdown amid the protests.
