Former mixed martial arts champion Ben Askren is open to being YouTube star Jake Paul’s next test inside of the boxing ring.

After Paul demolished former NBA Slam Dunk champion Nate Robinson on the undercard of the Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. pay-per-view, he decided to call out some names in combat sports like Conor McGregor and Dillon Danis.

Paul had previously called out Askren, a former Bellator and ONE Championship titleholder, and Askren is up for the challenge.

In fact, in the eyes of Askren, it “sounds like fun” to accept an easy payday beating up a YouTuber.

“I don’t know if there’s a feud, more than this guy has just said my name a few times,” Askren told Submission Radio. “Most people are like, ‘Oh, I don’t know why Ben Askren would stoop to that level.’ It’s like, listen, when I was in high school, one of the fun things to do was, a bunch of dudes would come over to the house, we’d put on some boxing gloves, and we’d try to beat the (expletive) out of each other.

“Like, we did that for free. We just did that for fun. And now you’re telling me you’re gonna pay me a whole bunch of money to beat up a YouTube star? Like, I don’t know, that just sounds like a fun Friday night to me.”

Askren is currently retired from mixed martial arts, but the opportunity to boost his bank account with a high-profile fight that presents no real danger is understandably appetizing.

And can you blame him?

If Paul is going to continue dipping his toes into the boxing world with fights against athletes and celebrities, there is going to be plenty of money to be had and the people will continue to tune in. I mean, who doesn’t want to see the moment Jake Paul finally gets knocked out?
