Being 5’3″ might be the least of rapper Tory Lanez’s problems now.
Lanez allegedly shot Megan Thee Stallion after a dispute inside his vehicle on the morning of July 12.
According to an anonymous source, Lanez (real name Daystar Peterson) “fired the shots from inside the vehicle while Megan was outside trying to leave.” The source also confirmed that there is a video of the incident that the police are investigating. “This is a case of a man physically harming and abusing a woman.”
An LAPD spokesperson did not confirm whether there was a video submitted for the investigation. They added that any videos “would not be released until the case goes to court in order to protect the integrity of the case.”
“The detectives are seeking information regarding the shooting involving Daystar Peterson, and the investigation is still ongoing. I’m not privilege to what the detectives have right now,” said the LAPD spokesperson. The police would not confirm whether Lanez is a suspect in the shooting.
On the evening of July 11, Megan, 25, went on Instagram Live showing her hanging out in a pool with Kylie Jenner and Lanez, 27. This Instagram Live video happened just hours before police responded to the “shots fired” call outside of a Hollywood Hills home at around 4:30 the next morning.
The LAPD requested more information about the incident through an online press release. Lanez was pulled over in his SUV and arrested by police that morning on gun possession charges. This arrest occurred only moments after the incident in the Hollywood Hills.
The Canadian rapper posted $35,000 bail and was released at 10:05 a.m. on July 12. He is required to appear in court on October 13.
Megan’s best friend Kelsey Nicole was also in the vehicle during the incident but denied shooting the “Savage” rapper.
On July 15 Megan confirmed that she suffered gunshot wounds during the July 12th morning incident.
“The police officers drove me to the hospital where I underwent surgery to remove the bullets,” said Megan. “I’m incredibly grateful to be alive and that I’m expected to make a full recovery, but it was important for me to clarify the details about this traumatic night.” Megan did not mention Lanez or the identity of her shooter in the statement.
Footage of the incident released by TMZ shows Megan exiting Lanez’s vehicle with what looks to be blood dripping from her feet. An LAPD spokesperson confirmed, “One person was transported to the hospital for a foot injury.”
If these allegations turn out to be true, Lanez will have a whole lot more to worry about than short man jokes at his expense.
