I ended up going down a San Quentin content rabbit hole last night starting with a ‘Religion of Sports’ documentary on Audience Network that led to reading about The Gazelle of San Quentin, Markelle Taylor, a guy who qualified for the Boston Marathon by running around the jail yard 105 times and doing it under the qualifying time to get in. Then Markelle was released this year in time to actually run the Marathon. That led to a documentary on Marvin Mutch, a guy who spent 41 years in San Quentin & turned into a guy wardens liked to have around to keep violence from breaking out. Fascinating stuff. Thought for sure I was going to have jail nightmares, but made it through the night just fine. Tonight it might be back to college basketball because I’m not sure how many nights I can do the jail content. Michigan is at Illinois at 9 on BTN. And NBCSN has a NHL doubleheader.
