Jordan Strack of WTOL, the CBS affiliate in Toledo, Ohio, has shut down any talk of him taking a national sports reporter job after shining during Saturday’s press conference where he got into a journalistic volleyball match with Jim Harbaugh after Michigan lost 56-27 to Ohio State giving Harbaugh a 0-5 record against the team he was hired to beat.
By now you’ve seen the testy exchange that went viral and led to Twitter blue checkmarks fawning over Strack’s bulldog journalism, which led to ESPN, Fox, CBS, etc. using the exchange multiple times and raising Strack’s national profile. It’s exactly the type of moment a local TV sports anchor can use to catapult to a bigger national job, but Strack has vehemently denied he will use this viral moment as a springboard to a big national job. “I’m a Toledo lifer,” Strack told me in a super exclusive Twitter exchange that could lead to a DAZN or Athletic to back up the Brinks truck and dump a massive offer on the guy he can’t refuse.

That’s not to say Strack won’t use Saturday’s performance to leverage a raise out of his employer. I have to assume his agent will be on the phone with WTOL Monday morning to discuss a new contract.
Well letβs not get crazy here. Business is business. π

Strack’s a Michigan fan, but puts his journalistic integrity ahead of his team:
Down 42-16 with under 3 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter & Jim Harbaugh elects to kick a FG. In what world is that acceptable? pic.twitter.com/VFS45V3jFm
