Instagram soccer star Paige Almendariz and the UNLV women’s soccer team had a rough 6-13-1 season to close out her career with the program. While there weren’t many wins on the field, Paige will be just fine when she leaves school as she’s spent her collegiate career building an Instagram feed that now resides at nearly 74,000 followers and should allow her to immediately cash in on some brand deals as she heads into the college after-life. No more NCAA gangsters to harass her over making a little money on the side promoting soccer balls or shinguards.
Paige, a Communication Studies major, is dating Rob Holding who plays for Arsenal FC so you can pretty much see where things are heading when she’s done with school. Rob’s already nailed down a longterm deal with Arsenal and Paige is clearly capable of turning her IG into a revenue stream as part of the next wave of influencers to take over the sporting world. This is why I say it time and time again…go out there and bust your ass growing your social channels so the day you graduate you’re ready to cash in and tell the NCAA to suck it. They can’t stop you from building a following. Be like Paige.
Paige wrote after her final game at UNLV:
I don’t even know where to start…. already crying writing the first sentence. The last 4 years of soccer here at UNLV has been an amazing experience, and I wouldn’t change it for the world. It’s been one of the biggest learning experiences, just being around different kinds of people, different personalities and learning how to adapt to others. I was able to find life long friends, challenge myself, learn what it really means to be yourself and not let anyone else change you. It definitely wasn’t easy getting through each season, but I grew from each game each minute and second I was on the field. My coaches, teammates, friends and family…. I couldn’t have done it without you. Go Rebs!
