The NCAA tennis players featured around here recently have been from Croatia, Colombia and somewhere else I can’t remember right now, so it’s time to get back to the good ol USA and get Jayci Goldsmith into the mix since she’s Texan, shoots wild boars and knows how to handle herself on a four-wheeler. Nothing against the other NCAA tennis players that have been featured around here lately, but I haven’t seen one drop a boar like Jayci. That says something about her talents on and off the court.

Originally from Dripping Springs, Texas, (pop. 4,000 — 24 miles southwest of Austin), Jayci is now into her sophomore season at Texas A&M and I’d love to give you her updated season record, but A&M isn’t updating its site. That’s a shame.

How important is Jayci to this roster? She’s the only Texan playing for A&M. Not kidding. I see Norway, Russia, Australia, Portugal, California and Florida on the roster, so you have to figure Jayci is showing the outsiders how to live the Texas lifestyle. How to go shop for Chip & Jo supplies to make dorm rooms look like they’re straight out of “Fixer Upper.” Maybe show the ladies who want to learn how to blast a wild pig. There’s always an unsung hero on a roster. Seems like Jayci might fit that role.

Did I mention that Jayci has 20k Instagram followers after a short collegiate career? Hopefully she’ll one day be able to capitalize on her Instagram likeness.
