The New England Patriots quietly went about their business Monday while the rest of the NFL media was worrying about Antonio Brown’s helmet and feet, trading for Falcons tight end Eric Saubert in exchange for a 7th round pick which probably means Bill Belichick just fleeced the Falcons and found his new Gronk.
Being that I track things like this, I knew that this was a very Gronk-esque scenario because Saubert is dating sports reporter and sideline reporter Sara Cardona, who made her BC debut like five years ago. Saubert isn’t going to be the party boy version of Gronk, but we’re talking about a big ol white boy with the long sequoia arms and the street smarts to land a woman of Cardona’s stature. Add in the fact that Belichick thought enough of Saubert to trade away a cherished 7th rounder and something tells me Bill’s ready to turn this guy into an All Pro.

This is such a Patriots trade it hurts. Saubert has five total catches in his career. FIVE. His best 2018 game was a two-catch, 15 yards game against Green Bay. There’s next to no tape on the guy, but here’s Bill out here making a move. He knows. He has a formula on how to grab a guy off another roster. Buy real low, preferably so low that most people think the guy shouldn’t be in the NFL.
Add in a hot girlfriend and you know the guy will play his ass off because he doesn’t want to get cut and lose the hot girlfriend.
