It looks like Jake Butt, the injured tight end from the Denver Broncos, had himself a rooting section at Sunday’s Broncos-Bengals game even though he wasn’t playing thanks to a torn ACL suffered in September. That was his third ACL injury and first to his left knee. Keep in mind that Jake is a suburban Columbus, Ohio kid. It appears family and friends purchased tickets to Sunday’s game before the injury and were coming to the December game no matter what.
This is Jalen Hurts level of dedication. The family and friends came out to a dreadful Cincinnati setting to see Jake’s team beat up on a Jeff Driskel-led Bengals team. I’ll give the Butt family credit for showing up when they could’ve easily told Jake they come to a game when he was actually playing.
Butt said after the September injury:
“I can’t sugarcoat it — this sucks,” Butt said on Twitter. “I’m still in disbelief about what happened yesterday. I’m hurt, upset, disappointed and I’m also blessed! Since yesterday I’ve been lifted up in prayer and love by so many family members, close friends, and fans. I’m so thankful to God for surrounding me with amazing people … . I started growing in my faith the last time I tore (the ACL) and over the past year I’ve made huge strides.”
I’m still trying to figure out if Jake Butt is even traveling with the team. There’s a high probability he’s not.
