There was major breaking news tonight and it concerns romaine lettuce possibly contaminated with E. Coli. The Centers for Disease Control issued an urgent warning tonight. People across the country are getting sick and it’s being blamed on the romaine.
From CNN:
Thirty-two people, including 13 who have been hospitalized, have been infected with the outbreak strain in 11 states, according to the CDC. One of the hospitalized people developed hemolytic uremic syndrome, a potentially life-threatening formof kidney failure. No deaths have been reported.
People have become sick in California, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Wisconsin.
The Public Health Agency of Canada has identified an additional 18 people who have become sick with the same strain of E. coli in Ontario and Quebec.
Add it all up and you have the makings of a HUGE national emergency where people should avoid contact with romaine. You’ll likely have to go to spinach or back to iceberg, which is major news within the NSFWBD community where this news hit like a brick wall. Of course the BDs are terrified by this news that people are dropping over romaine.
