Uh oh, here we go with the escalating war between the Detroit media and Lions head coach Matt Patricia after Patricia went after a slouching media member at a press conference after Golden Tate was traded to Philadelphia. The Lions went out and gave up 10 sacks Sunday to the Vikings and the Detroit News figured it was a good time to take a shot back at Patricia in this Big J vs. the Slob Coach battle royale.
Let’s go back to earlier in the week when Patricia started this feud with the local Detroit media. It all started via this confrontation:
Reporter: “Why do you think this move makes your franchise better?”
Patricia: “Ah, well, you know. Do me a favor just kinda sit up, just like, have a little respect for the process. Every day you come and ask me questions and you’re just kinda like you know, ‘gimme this.’ “
Reporter: “I’m sitting …”

Patricia: “I’m asking just to be a little respectful in this whole process.”
Reporter: “Okay, that’s fine.”
Patricia: “So ask me a question professionally and I’ll answer it for you.”
Blue checkmarks did not like it and they were ready to go to war with a guy they perceive to be a complete slob who is uncomfortable in anything but a hoodie and track pants. Also, they don’t like the new guy in town pushing his weight around when he’s pulling up the rear in the NFC North.
That leads us to today’s blatant shot at Matt, something you rarely see out of the midwestern newspapers that don’t like to rock the boat when it comes to organizations that spend a bunch of money (relatively speaking these days) on advertising.
