Ernie Johnson announced this morning via Instagram that he will not be working the baseball playoffs for TBS after doctors found blood clots in both of his legs during a physical and told him it wouldn’t be wise to be flying like is required during the playoffs. Ernie and his family have decided that laying low until the NBA gets rolling is the best course of action and that he was going to be taking care of himself to get ready for the season.
Ernie, 62, became the lead MLB playoff broadcaster for TBS in 2010. Don Orsillo will move into Ernie’s spot. It will be Don Orsillo, Dennis Eckersley and Hazel Mae covering the Indians-Astros games. That series gets started Friday in Houston.
