Cash rained down over midfield, whirling around the sky as a helicopter fluttered over Cashman Field and fans scrambled to collect bills. Some stayed near the middle of the field, grabbing what they could, while others chased after bills flying around in the wind.
When it was all said and done, 200 fans walked off the field with a combined $5,000 on Saturday night at halftime of the Lights’ game against the Los Angeles Galaxy II, many clutching wads of crumpled cash in their hands.

That would get me to a soccer game. I always thought this would be a fun thing to do at a family Christmas. Get one of those enclosed hurricane wind tunnels and battle it out for money. Each family member throws in 20 $1 bills instead of buying the gift nobody wants. Figure you have like 26-28 family members who get in. At the low end you’re looking at $520 in the wind tunnel. Each family member gets a chance to collect as many of the dollars as possible. Person with the most money collected gets 1st place money. Maybe you pay out the top 8 or something like that. Not everyone is going to win cash, but it’s not like you were going to care about that $20 gift your uncle got you. I have a bunch of family Christmas gifts sitting in a cabinet that will never get used.
Anyway, I think money drops are amazing theater and I’ll always be down to throw in $20 to make one happen.
