Typically all the hype in the Pac 12 goes to USC, UCLA, Stanford, and lately Washington, but this season the Arizona Wildcats bandwagon is where it’s at. Everyone loves dual threat superstar Khalil Tate, crummy Rich Rodriguez got sacked in January, and the team has a manageable schedule without Stanford or Washington on it. The Cats could make a run — and even if they disappoint everyone in the stadium can just drown their sorrows in wine and/or alcohol.
That’s right. U of A has green lit alcohol sales “to enhance the fan experience” for the upcoming season — the deets from Tuscon.com:
The UA will contract with a professional, licensed concessionaire for alcohol sales, which will be offered at a limited number of concession stands. Beer and wine will be sold in plastic cups with sales beginning 90 minutes before kickoff and stopping before the end of the third quarter, according to the UA.
“We’re going to do this the right way, grow into it,” UA athletic director Dave Heeke said Thursday during a tour of construction at various athletic facilities.
The UA will be taking steps to ensure responsible drinking, such as increasing security at games and providing wristbands to drinkers of legal age, the UA said.
KGun-TV reports alcohol will also be sold at basketball games this season.
Because the universe works in mysterious ways, Arizona is scheduled to open the season at home against… BYU. Godspeed to the Mormons tasked with staying strong in the vicinity of Devil Juice.
