Getty Images pulled a move out of the BC playbook recently by publishing a gallery called, “World Cup 2018: The Sexiest Fans.” The photos, as one would guess, featured a bunch of attractive women supporting their teams at the tournament — you know, the ones cameramen can’t help but cut to during matches:

Honestly it sounds like a great way to get people to buy their photos, but clearly I’m just some scuzzy sports blogger. The gallery has since been deleted after an outcry on Twitter and replaced with an apology from the editors:
Earlier, we published a piece, “World Cup 2018: The Sexiest Fans,” that did not meet our editorial standards. We regret the error and have removed the piece. There are many interesting stories to tell about the World Cup and we acknowledge this was not one of them.
Getty learned a valuable lesson for the 2022 World Cup: the next version of this gallery needs more hot male fans to avoid detection from the Twitter police.
Sidenote: Who the hell is going to Getty for a hot World Cup fans gallery?
