Attending the Washington Capitals’ championship parade was a costly move for 19-year-old Virginia Tech student Katie Karlinchak. As you can see on her sign above, Katie was canned from her florist job for hitting DC to celebrate the Caps’ first ever Stanley Cup.
Details from ABC7-WJLA:
Virginia Tech student Katie Karlinchak, 19, says she had to choose between her job at a florist and the chance to attend the first victory parade by a D.C. sports team in nearly 30 years.

The newly unemployed Hokie says she is not worried about her future job prospects
Obviously an easy decision for Katie here. It took the Capitals 43 years to win it all, this is a life moment she and many Caps fans will cherish forever. Also she probably has a bunch of places willing to give her a job after this story makes its rounds.
