ABC-7 L.A. Sportscaster Has Trouble Pronouncing Jonathan Marchessault's Name

Here we go again with yet another facepalm from ABC7-L.A., the channel you watch if you want to watch local news that clearly doesn’t give a shiit if they get things right. After all, it’s Los Angeles and the people watching the news don’t care if you get a Canadian hockey player’s name right. Let’s go to the highlights and Jonathan Marchessault’s breakaway 35 seconds into Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals.
I’m not sure which sports department joker was behind the mic last night for ABC-7. Doesn’t matter. We’ve churned out these posts during the playoffs for years. Nobody does NHL playoff coverage like ABC-7. And this won’t be the last time they’re completely embarrassing before all is said and done.

By the way, I know you guys don’t care that much about the NHL, but can we appreciate Jonathan Marchessault’s +36 this season. He was -21 last year in Florida and rolls into Vegas and drops 75 points on the NHL. And, the guy has 8 goals, 9 assists in this year’s playoffs. He’d never scored a playoff goal in the NHL. I’m starting to think the gambling gods are behind this run for the Knights. All these years of that city being told they were a trash major league franchise city and yet here we are with the Golden Knights up 2-1 on the Jets after last night’s 4-2 win.

Now let’s go to Canada’s Sportsnet for a real French-Canadian pronunciation:
