Just two months after “retiring” from the G-League, giant stiff Kendrick Perkins is back with the Cleveland Cavaliers for the playoffs. For real, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted the big news Monday night:
The Cavaliers are signing 13-year NBA vet Kendrick Perkins with final roster spot for playoffs, league sources tell @Mcten and me. Perkins played part of season at G League affiliate after Cavs released him in preseason.

Perkins has been washed for like five years now, but we’re not going to knock the guy and his representatives for working this magic. ESPN’s Dave McMenamin notes he was signed for his “veteran leadership,” which makes sense given he last averaged two points and three rebounds for the Pelicans a couple seasons ago.
Perkins was on the Cavs was during their Finals run in 2015, which, of course, ended with a Warriors victory. He’ll hope for a better result in his ring hunt this time around.
